Thoughts From a Grateful Husband and Father on Father’s Day

Thoughts From a Grateful Husband and Father on Father’s Day

So here we are again, thankfully celebrating another Father's Day.

My dad passed away over 35 years ago and I still miss him.

He was my best friend.

Happy Father's Day Dad!

Today though I want to share a few thoughts about being a father to our own children, Lauren, and Bryan.

For me, being a father meant, with a child, I had I had true responsibilities starting around age 28.

In all honesty, and thankfully, it certainly was a team effort. (and I was definitely the junior  partner much of the time)

It was my wife Boni and my responsibility to raise Bryan and...   Click Here to Read More

The Renaissance of Downtown Cambridge Ontario

The Renaissance of Downtown Cambridge Ontario

I recently heard the Mayor of Cambridge, Doug Craig, refer to the City of Cambridge as "Florence on the Grand". You can see a bit of his speech here in the Cambridge Times.

Whereas it "brought a bit of a chuckle", the mayor was pretty compelling, and having been to and seen the splendor of Florence, after a bit of thought on the subject, you know, I think he's right..

The construction project in the Historic Old Post Office in downtown Cambridge is continuing nicely.

The Old Post Office is being converted into another one of Cambridge's historic and architecturally significant libraries.

This is a very exciting addition to downtown Cambridge Ontario, and is slated to open in late June, early July 2018.

This post office was originally built in 1885, and the original architect was Thomas Fuller, Chief Architect of the Department of Public Works. Fuller designed many of Canada’s important public buildings, including the...   Click Here to Read More

My Favourite Grocery Store in Cambridge

My Favourite Grocery Store in Cambridge

My Favourite Grocery Store in Cambridge

First off, let me say, I don't do the majority of grocery shopping for our family.

My wife Boni, is the pro. She know's she's the pro, and she let's me know it too.

However, probably about once or twice a week, I'm sent out by the boss, for provisions.

And generally, when I do, I head straight to my favourite Grocery store in Cambridge.

That store is Farm Boy, on Hespeler Road.

I love Farm Boy. It's definitely my favourite grocery store in Cambridge.

It's clean, inviting, and colourful.

The staff (and there are enough of them for the size of the store) are always friendly.

The Time Has Come For Cambridge Go Trains

Premiere Wynne announces that Ontario will fund an $11 Billion Ultra High Speed rail from Toronto through Kitchener and London which is currently served by both VIA Rail and Go Transit. The $11 Billion is just phase one, BTW. The total cost is projected at $20 – 25 Billion. To put that in perspective, that's $1785.00 per capita, per Ontario resident. And that's if it comes in on budget.

She says faster trains will be important to build the high-tech community there, and to help Google, which is currently busing some workers from Toronto to Kitchener.
Go Transit, has also extended Go Train Service along the Lakeshore Go...   Click Here to Read More
