My Favourite Grocery Store in Cambridge

First off, let me say, I don't do the majority of grocery shopping for our family.

My wife Boni, is the pro. She knows she's the pro, and she lets me know it too.

However, probably about once or twice a week, I'm sent out by the boss, for provisions.

And generally, when I do, I head straight to my favourite Grocery store in Cambridge.

Farm Boy in Cambridge –  My Favourite Grocery Store

That store is Farm Boy, on Hespeler Road.

I love Farm Boy. It's definitely my favourite grocery store in Cambridge.

It's clean, inviting, and colourful.

The staff (and there are enough of them for the size of the store) are always friendly.

It's also small enough you can get through it quickly, and it seems easy enough to find stuff.

Even though there's a bit of a boutique upmarket feel to it, kind of like Whole Food, the prices don't seem to be much more than the regular mainstream stores in town, those being Sobeys, and Zehrs.

As I said, I don't do the majority of our shopping, so I haven't done any extensive comparisons, but I haven't seen anything that felt out of line.

I definitely noticed that meat typically is no more expensive, and beef for example is all AAA grade. Similar to Sobeys Certified Silver grade.

Zehrs generally doesn't even sell AAA.

So you can always rely on Farm Boy Beef.

Farm Boy is oriented around Fresh food, not packaged food.

It also sources much of their products locally where possible.

So you can get your fruit, vegetables, meat, poultry and fish there, along with breads, cheeses, and deserts.

It's very similar to the Cambridge Farmers market in this regard. Another favourite stop of ours, and one which I hope to write about in the near future.

But it's not the place to find your typical canned goods, or soaps, paper products etc.

Knowing that, this is where we buy 90% of our fresh foods, and we tend to get the rest at Sobey's.

Have you been to Farm Boy? Do you like it?
